Can I record my screen directly in AVE?
Yes, on Apple silicon Macs running macOS 15 or later. Choose Record on Home or in the editor, select a screen, window, or area, and optionally add your microphone, camera, and system audio. Set the background and frame before capture, then edit the recording on the timeline. Recording is included in the seven-day Pro trial and requires AVE Pro afterward. Saved recordings remain editable and exportable, with no separate recorder account.
Do I need to upgrade macOS or migrate my projects?
AVE still supports macOS 14 or later, and existing projects need no migration. The new screen recorder requires macOS 15 or later. On macOS 14 you can continue editing, importing, and exporting with AVE.
Can AVE create custom motion graphics?
Yes. Open Motion graphics, describe an animated video, title, or overlay, and create a preview with your configured assistant. Customize exposed text and colors or refine the brief, then add the result to a video or graphics track and export locally.
Do motion graphics need another account or API key?
There is no separate motion-rendering account or API key to set up. AVE uses your configured assistant to create the composition and renders it on your Mac. A local model can work on-device; external assistants retain their own sign-in, API, or subscription requirements.

Is AVE available to download?
Yes. AVE 1.2.10 is available for Apple Silicon Macs. Download the DMG from GitHub Releases and install it by dragging AVE into Applications.
What Mac do I need?
AVE 1.2.10 requires macOS 14.0 or later and Apple Silicon, M1 or later. The current release asset is AVE-1.2.10-mac-arm64.dmg.
Does AVE actually edit the timeline, or just add effects?
It performs real edits. Complete reversible requests can execute directly through validated tools for sequence creation, footage retrieval, trims, Ripple, Roll, Slip, transitions, fades, captions, graphics, audio, color work, review, and export.
Can Codex or Claude Code work directly with AVE?
Yes. AVE MCP connects local Codex CLI or Claude Code installations to a controlled set of AVE project, search, edit, review, and export tools. Each assistant has its own access and approval settings.
Is AVE local-first and private?
Yes. Project files, imported media, local analysis, timeline execution, and exports stay on your Mac by default. External assistants, API providers, and BYO generation services are optional connections you choose.

Are there extra AI costs?
Local AI runs on your Mac with no usage fees from AVE. If you connect an external AI provider, that provider bills you separately.
