Recording requires macOS 15 or later and an active trial or Pro license. Saved recordings remain editable and exportable after your trial ends.

Local-first does not mean no network activity. Downloads, updates, licensing and optional services can use the internet. App usage analytics are enabled by default and can be disabled in Settings; they exclude your footage, transcripts and prompts.

Free includes unlimited projects and sequences, manual timeline editing, titles, manual captions and watermark-free local export. You can also read, search and export saved transcripts.
What happens after the trial?
Nothing is billed automatically. Keep your projects, captions and AI results, and continue manual editing and export. New recording, transcript-editing and AI-assisted operations require Pro.
Do Monthly and Lifetime include the same features?
Both paid plans unlock the same Pro features, with one Mac activation at a time.
Which Mac and macOS versions do I need?
AVE requires an Apple Silicon Mac, M1 or later, with macOS 14 or later for editing. Screen recording and editable recording effects require macOS 15 or later.
What can I change after recording?

Does my footage have to be uploaded?
Project files, imported footage, local analysis and exports stay local by default. External assistants and providers are optional; requests can share the context they need under their own terms.
Does Lifetime include unlimited third-party AI?
No. Lifetime covers the AVE editor. Optional assistants, API endpoints and generation services use your own accounts and pricing. Local models have no additional AVE compute fee.
Can I use Pro offline?
Local editing tools work on your Mac. Monthly licenses require periodic online validation and allow up to 72 hours offline after a successful check. External providers need a connection.

How do I activate Pro?
Use the license key from your Polar receipt. In AVE, open Settings, then Account, and find Activation. Paste the complete key and activate Pro on this Mac.
What if I already pay monthly or own Lifetime?
Buying Lifetime does not cancel a Monthly subscription. Cancel Monthly through your customer portal to stop renewals. Existing Lifetime owners keep the new Pro features in their license.
